Osteopathy
Osteopaths are primary health practitioners who assess, diagnose and provide management for somatic (body) pain, mainly of musculoskeletal origin and have a good understanding of the interrelationship between the neuro-musculoskeletal system and other body systems.
Osteopathy is holistic in that health, pain and disease are understood to be multifactorial and we seek to understand the different influences that have triggered or re-aggravated your pain, injury or discomfort.
Osteopaths treat people of all ages: babies, children and adolescents, mums and dads, retirees and professional athletes.
What you need to know about Osteopathy
A plan for you.
Osteopaths assess, treat and create a plan with you to help manage your pain, injury or condition.
Treatment looks like….
Treatment may incorporate soft tissue massage, mobilisation, dry needling, stretching, manipulation and other gentle techniques making it safe for people of all ages. A personalised exercise program may also be designed for you to assist with getting you back to doing the things you love.
A wider view of health
Osteopaths also focus on encouraging healthy behaviours such as movement, nutrition, stress management, sleep and provide advice on posture and workplace ergonomics. Osteopathy provides client centred and collaborative care and we liaise with your GP or other health care professionals when necessary. We also utilise the latest evidence for decision making and are committed to ongoing professional development.
Osteopaths in Australia are registered with AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency) and have completed a minimum of five years’ university training in anatomy, physiology, pathology, neuroscience and Osteopathic techniques. Osteopathy is covered by most private health funds and by Medicare’s Chronic Disease Management (CDM) Plans.
